Zoning and Permitting
For most home improvement and building projects, a permit is required. Please contact city staff before beginning projects so we can assist you with understanding zoning requirements before building.

In addition to city regulations, you may be required to complty with county zoning and building laws. Please contact Newaygo County Building Department for more details. 

Most commonly requested permits
  • Application for Zoning Compliance Permit for proposed work that requires zoning compliance 

  • No Zoning is Required Waiver Required by County for proposed work that does not require zoning approval from the City, but does require a building permit from Newaygo County.
