NOTICE: Republic Services customers in the City of Grant will soon have a time change in the collection of trash. Beginning July 16th the trash will be collected in the morningversus the current afternoon schedule. We know there are a few residents that expect the driver to come at the same time like the postman and they do not put out their cart or bags till an hour prior. To avoid missing trash collection, please put your trash out the night before your scheduled pick-up. To help ease the transition, Republic Services stated they will be sending out an automated phone call to their customers.

The City of Grant has a solid waste hauling contract with Republic Services. This contract is for residential service only. Local Ordinance #50, Solid Waste Ordinance regulates the residential service and brush pick up conducted by the City of Grant DPW.
Benefits of the single hauler contract:
The single hauler contract allows for the City to better negotiate low rates for residents through the economy of scale.
Eliminates truck noise in residential areas on multiple days of the week (only one day under the contract).
Saves tax dollars on wear and tear of residential local streets that are not built for heavy truck traffic.
Reduces heavy truck traffic in residential neighborhoods.
Please be aware that liquids (milk, water, juice, etc) left inside original containers leak out onto the road when trash cans are emptied and compacted. Please be neighborly and empty these types of containers before throwing them in the garbage!
Certain items fall under the category of Household Hazardous Waste and cannot be thrown in the garbage. Contact Newaygo County to obtain information on their Household Hazardous Waste disposal program, typically scheduled for one day in early June annually by appointment.
